Overall it gets the job done a really great renewable product if you are trying to reduce plastics and adding micro plastics to the water supply.

I’ve never washed dishes with loofah fiber before, and did not know what to expect. I now know that loofah is great for doing dishes!
The sponges arrive flat and compressed – stiff and a bit scratchy. When water hits the fiber, the sponge expands and softens. When it softens it is still tough, and scrubs well, but is also bendable to adapt to inside corners of dishes. It’s the perfect size for my smallish/medium sized hands, but even better when I fold it in half, so I believe that it will be a good size for larger hands as well. It is close to the size of a typical kitchen sponge.
The sponges are sturdy and durable, and have a loop of rope attached, allowing for drying from a hook. Great idea.
Added bonus is that it came from the earth, and can return to the earth.
Bottom line: this will work for most dishwashing jobs. You might still need to pull out the steel wool for particularly tough jobs.

They don’t have any scent. That is unless you wash them dirty dishes and leave them sitting in dirty dishwater for a week then my friend they will definitely stink in the sink, you think?
But seriously they are really really great. And you get a ton of them I think they were like six in the package.

This makes it hard to get into some places in pots and pans.

It is really fun to watch it when it first gets wet and grows and grows.

To continue, I use a lot of nuts and seeds when preparing meals throughout the day. Sometimes I find that a sponge will get tiny seeds caught in it. Just holding this sponge under running water generally washes the seeds out. I also alternatively use a dish cloth to wipe up areas where this might happen. Also, I read in a previous review that this sponge can get dirty looking and discolored. Actually, most sponges will eventually get dirty looking and discolored! If I am cleaning up blueberry juice, coffee, or something that might stain the sponge, I just put a little dishwashing liquid on it and rub two ends of it together, and the stains tend to go away! I could not do this with my other (plastic) sponges. I will also place the sponge in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds, which keeps it germ-free. I am so pleased and thankful that I now have a better sponge to use!
Lastly, I think the only way to see progress with getting all of the plastic out of our oceans and environment is to convince companies not to sell anymore products (such as sponges) made with plastic. This can be accomplished simply by not buying them! Buy natural loofah sponges instead!

They do take some getting used to. They are not as flexible, although become softer over time. They don’t hold on to water very well, so you can’t use them to wipe up liquid spills – this also means they dry out faster, and never become gross. They hold soap just as well, and foam up fine. The fibrous nature is also good for gentle scouring, which is very handy, since you can scrape things off that are stuck a bit, but without damaging anything.
The first one lasted about two months of nearly daily use. And then – just rinse it, and toss it in compost.

I have a ceramic sponge holder and it fits like a glove inside! Absolutely recommend to anyone looking to try out natural loofahs

These feel a bit unwieldy when they’re dry–perhaps a titch too wide to comfortably fit in the hand–but they soften up once they’re wet and it stops being a problem until the next time you use it. So far so good!
